Trader Joe's in Wellington Florida | Now Open!

Trader Joe’s opened their first Palm Beach County location in Wellington Florida on the northwest corner of Stribling Way and 441 (SR-7) back in May 2014. As a Wellington resident I was excited for the newest addition to our community and while I’ve never shopped at a Trader Joe’s before I’ve heard nothing but good things from shopper’s who have.

Trader Joe's Wellington Florida

As anticipated Trader Joe’s grand opening was packed with shoppers from all over South Florida. My husband and I even stopped by that weekend, but didn’t do any shopping due to long lines. However I was able to confirm everything I heard about Trader Joe’s, affordable, small and friendly, was true.

Affordable:

My family eats clean; organic, grass-fed and free range when ever possible and anyone who eats “clean” knows that it isn’t cheap, so I was pleasantly surprised to find fresh organic produce at Trader Joe’s for quite a bit less than other grocery stores. They also carry some organic, free range and grass-fed meats, but in my opinion their selection and quality doesn’t compare to Whole Foods, but the differences are also reflected in the prices.  They have a great selection of different cheeses and the prices are some of the lowest around. When it comes to their “bakery” section I can’t comment because I don’t eat grains, but it does appear limited compared to other major food stores. I also can’t comment on their wine section, but from what I’ve heard they have a great selection at affordable prices.

Small:

Trader Joe’s in Wellington is pretty small, probably 1/4 the size of the Whole Foods in Wellington, but it’s laid out well. However due to the size their selection and inventory is limited, so it’s not uncommon for me to purchase an item one week and for it not to be there the following week.

Friendly:

Every single time I’ve been in Trader Joe’s their staff has been extremely friendly and helpful, even when they’re packed with shopper’s.

I now do a majority of my food shopping at Trader Joe’s, but I still find myself at Whole Foods picking up items like organic nuts, organic dairy, meats and grain-free frozen goods. However I’ve seen a significant decrease in my monthly shopping bill, so it’s well worth the extra shopping trip.

If you live in or near Wellington and haven’t been to Trader Joe’s yet I highly recommend stopping by.
